Hello,
My name is Eri. I am a Spatial Experience, and Environmental Designer.
Born and raised in Japan, I currently reside near Los Angeles, California. My journey across diverse cultures has taken me to seven countries—the USA, Germany, Canada, Thailand, Chile, Costa Rica, and Ecuador—where I have studied and explored various environments and lifestyles. This exposure has fueled my passion for understanding different cultures, human experiences, technology, and anthropology.
My diverse experiences have motivated me to tackle contemporary challenges. This journey culminated in my receipt of the "Calibre Award" in Sustainable Living (social relevance) from the International Interior Design Association in 2016. Additionally, furniture I designed for ATU was exhibited at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in Miami the same year. I graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Design with distinction and a minor in Social Innovation from ArtCenter College of Design in 2017.
Having a strong interest in global environmental issues and sustainable design, I obtained the LEED AP Building Design + Construction credential from the U.S. Green Building Council in 2021. As a designer creating spaces, experiences, and environments, I actively engage with projects worldwide. Currently, I lead as the Designer and Art Director for the "Space and Experience" segment of the USA Pavilion for the 2025 Osaka Expo in Japan. I'm driven by the desire to inspire people and am resolute in my mission to craft transformative experiences that contribute to a better world.
I am an active Guest Reviewer at ArtCenter College of Design, regularly critiquing and reviewing student projects in various classes. Additionally, I serve as a Board & Scholarship Committee Member of Wakayama Kenjinkai, Southern California, fostering strong relationships between the USA and Japan. Proudly, I am a member of the Ikenobo Ikebana (The Japanese Art of Floral Design School), Los Angeles Chapter, actively participating in and contributing to various exhibitions showcasing the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement. My aspiration is to preserve Japan's rich traditions, culture, and “Waza“, passing them on to future generations while sharing Japan's beauty with the world.
The carpet design and wall art I created for the HD Expo in Las Vegas won a competition and were showcased at the “Social Hub“ during the event in 2019. Later, they were featured in Interiors Magazine, a collaborative effort between renowned artisans Kyle Bunting and Rottet Studio. You can explore the designs on Interiors Magazine's website.
